Tryg Aanenson

I’m a Research Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas with a background in economics, statistics, and data science. My work spans forecasting global housing markets, analyzing trade shocks, and building tools that make research more efficient. Outside of economics, I apply the same analytical mindset to baseball, using pitch-level data to study player performance and decision-making. I enjoy tackling complex questions with data, whether in policy, sports, or broader research.

Tryg’s Research

  • Dallas Federal Reserve Research

Co-authored research on real-time house price forecasting, Bayesian trade-cost estimation, and carbon tax distributional effects. I maintain the International House Price Database and contribute to the International Housing Observatory's nowcasting platform.

  • Baseball Research

Original research using MLB Statcast bat tracking data, pitch-level college baseball pipelines, and panel regression methods. Current projects: variance decomposition of swing mechanics, pressure-based pitch selection modeling, and a full-season performance system built for a D3 coaching staff.

  • Other Research

From international policy work and urban economics to even Mock Trial, I apply statistical and computational methods across fields to answer real-world questions with clean data and clear analysis.
